MY EXPERIENCE

With over 30 years’ corporate business experience, I have amassed an extensive set of skills and knowledge. This experience, linked with my desire to see others excel at what they do, is what gave me the foundations for my business.

I hold a very strong belief that a business cannot be successful if it does not have clear direction, is not operationally efficient, and does not invest enough time or focus on people – be it customers or employees.

It’s with this belief that I built on the foundations and developed the Steady Consulting proposition.

MORE ABOUT NEIL STEAD

I’ve been extremely fortunate to have spent over 30 years working for The John Lewis Partnership. Having undertaken a number of roles across Waitrose, John Lewis and Pan-Partnership, I’ve learnt a lot (and I mean a lot). And now is the time for me to use this wealth of experience, skills, and capabilities to support other organisations to grow, evolve, thrive or simply just be more efficient.

My biggest achievement has got to be the creation, launch, ongoing evolution and operational management of the highly successful 'myWaitrose' loyalty programme for Waitrose. At its inception it was seen as a ‘market-leading proposition’ within the retail sector. Working alongside my team and many others involved across the business, I helped achieve extremely positive levels of customer satisfaction – and this drove significant contributions to the business’s results. My Waitrose is a legacy I'm immensely proud of.

I’ve always been a ‘people person’ – showing empathy and care for all whom I interact with. Over the past few years, driven by my own lived experiences, I have taken a more proactive focus on supporting people's mental health and well-being – specifically in the workplace.

Having experienced anxiety and depression in the past, I’ve since learnt to manage the impact they can have on me. Recognising the warning signs, being willing to ask for help and developing ways to manage my emotions have all enabled me to improve my mental-health, well-being and my overall outlook on life.

I have coupled my own experiences with becoming a certified Mental Health First Aider (having completed training with Mental Health First Aid England) and an i-act manager (accredited by The Royal College Of Psychiatrists). These qualifications allow me to offer guidance and support to colleagues experiencing a mental health issue, and I aim to better support individuals and organisations in driving awareness while providing ideas and tips for developing an improved workplace mentality.

My support for people extends outside the workplace too – I am a Support Volunteer for Samaritans, and have been an NHS Volunteer Responder/Steward during the pandemic.
